The Stones of Green Knowe (Book): Boston, L. M. While eagerly following each stage of the new stone manor house his father is building to replace their old wooden Saxon hall, a young boy, part Saxon and part Norman, becomes involved with ancient magic that carries him through time.   The Stones of Green Knowe, by L.M. Boston (), is the last of a series of six books written about an old house and the children who have inhabited it over the years. The spirits of these children travel through time--the first of the series, for instance, describes how Tolly, a 20th century boy, meets three children from the time of Charles II.

Average Rating. Author: Boston, L. M. L. M. Boston's thrilling and chilling tales of Green Knowe, a haunted manor deep in an overgrown garden in the English countryside, have been entertaining readers for half a century. This is the sixth book in this classic series. While eagerly following each stage of the new stone manor house his fa.

The Green Knowe books (of which this is the sixth) center around the author's own ‐year‐old house, where modern children meet those who have lived there in the past. My least favourite Green Knowe book, to me it reads like the afterthought it is in the timeline of the series. Told from the point of view of one of the "others", Roger, the first boy to live at Green Knowe somehow I don't quite feel the mystery and magic in this one. Enjoyable but not quite up to the standard of the previous books. ()/5(5).
